Having a discussion with my friend about different cultures, and how Canadian culture differs from others.
I was interested in your points of view - and to tell me if we're being totallyyyyyyy backward.
We were talking about Generational Canadians (is there an easier term? trying to think of one that doesn't have other connotations).
Since we're both generational Canadians, we have suprisingly similar ideas, feelings about things ( I say surprisingly since I'm an oil child, and she's a lobster kid which usually ends up in totally inappropriate jokes about provinces).
Mainly we were talking about how we tend to be more honest and blunt about situations (probably why we're bff's with the Dutch), which causes some trouble when dealing with someone of a different culture. This issue was brought up due to her friend ( a newbie Canadian) who was raised in an entirely different culture - ie the culture that doesn't really confront things in such a blunt manner.
Have any of you guys come across similar situations? Is there perhaps a province or territory that isn't so blunt about things?
